Outreach
Philosophy
We believe that the visual arts are reflective of the world around us and, thus, have a relevancy to everyone in the community. Art has the ability to open our eyes, our hearts, and our minds to new ways of engaging the world around us. We believe that the visual arts can enrich the daily lives of everyone.
We specialize in developing engaging programs and services that will help existing visual arts presenters in small communities provide increased programming to their audiences at little or no cost. We believe that as one of the larger museums in Indiana, we have the responsibility to be proactive in supporting and enhancing the visual arts in communities throughout Indiana.
Extension & Outreach Objectives
• To provide increased access to the visual arts throughout Indiana.
• To increase our audience’s understanding and appreciation of American Art, in particular.
• To extend consulting and programmatic services to organizations in outlying communities in Northeast and Northwest Indiana.
• To help strengthen the programming and organizational capacity of smaller arts organizations such that they can better serve their constituents during and after this current economic downturn.
Service Area
Currently, we are offering service to communities in the 50 counties of NE and NW Indiana.
Service Hosts
In each community, we work collaboratively with existing art organizations, galleries, artist groups, community centers, libraries, businesses, and/or schools to provide programs and services that will benefit audiences in each host community.
Service Categories
Traveling exhibitions, workshops, lectures, seminars, inter-library loans, K -12 art programs, and organizational consulting (with an emphasis on capacity building studies, organizational assessment, audience development, and strategic planning).
