Fort Wayne Museum of Art American Art Initiative Capital Campaign Gets Big Boost from Dekko Foundation
After announcing the American Art Initiative Capital Campaign and the 10,000 sq. ft. expansion of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, the Museum has more good news to share. In an effort to raise $7.5 million for the project, the Fort Wayne Museum of Art would like to announce a very generous gift of $750,000 from the Dekko Foundation of Kendallville, Indiana.
“Our board saw this investment in the Museum of Art as an opportunity to strengthen a wonderful regional amenity,” said Sharon Smith, Dekko Foundation Program Director. “Arts and culture are important building blocks for overall community vitality. Our grant was made with that in mind.”
It is through their generosity that the Museum will be able to expand the library and education department as well as storage and gallery space in the new addition. The need for expansion is driven by the increase in the permanent collection and additional educational outreach that will occur throughout the region.

Shepard III, Executive Director of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. “With their generous support, we will expand our efforts to use the visual arts as a means to understand our culture, value our individual lives, and learn more about the ways in which our lives and experiences connect with others all around us.”
During the construction phase the galleries may have to close for a brief period of time but the Museum will strive to keep open and alive with programs and events for the public. The mission of The Fort Wayne Museum of Art is to collect, preserve, present and interpret American and related art as well as engage audiences as it builds for the future.
