AEP Foundation presents major gift to the Fort Wayne Museum of Art

Helen Murray, president and COO for Indiana Michigan Power, recently presented a major gift to the Fort Wayne Museum of Art on behalf of the AEP Foundation, which is funded by American Electric Power and its utility operating units, including Indiana Michigan Power.

“I am pleased to present the Fort Wayne Museum of Art with this gift on behalf of the American Electric Power Foundation,” said Murray.  “We are very fortunate to have an art museum of this caliber in our city.  It is definitely one of the treasures of downtown Fort Wayne.”

Accepting the gift for the museum were Charles A. Shepard III, executive director, and Karen Kasper, capital campaign manager.  “I&M has always been a strong partner of the Fort Wayne community,” said Shepard.  “We look forward to sharing the benefits of the American Electric Power Foundation’s generous donation with the community.”

This grant is in support of the museum’s American Art Initiative Capital Campaign which includes the expansion of its permanent collection of American art as well added gallery space.  The Fort Wayne Museum of Art, founded in the early 1900s, serves the Fort Wayne community and the northeast Indiana region.  The museum offers a variety of exhibitions each year and also provides educational opportunities and resources to schools within the region.
