Artist Statement about the evocative works in Through the Glass Nightly:

I worked as a bartender during my college years on the cabaret floor of one of the premier gay clubs in the south, Club One Jefferson.  After some time I was invited to work on the third floor, “The Showbar”, a coveted station.  Around this time I took my first Photography class and began photographing these amazing people.

Many times throughout the years I have felt a little like Alice in the Looking Glass.  Things seemed, at first glance, as one would expect…but when you looked a little closer…things were just a little bit different.  This body of work is a retrospective of over ten years of working with this unique, courageous and beautiful group of entertainers.  It explores the behind the scenes, the backstage and the ‘show’ itself.

I consider myself so privileged to have been allowed inside their world.
